Citizen of the Year
On 13 May, Catholic schools in the Diocese were invited to the annual diocesan Citizenship Award ceremony for pupils. Schools were invited to nominate pupils who had displayed outstanding awareness of good citizenship. The recipients were presented with an award at Brentwood Cathedral by Bishop Alan William. The idea of citizenship is an important aspect of our Catholic faith. “The Gospel of Jesus Christ requires us to ‘love our neighbour as ourselves’ and that is at the heart of the Christian interpretation of citizenship.” The children selected from St Joachim's were Year 6 pupils Abigail and Sandra. They were selected for remaining determined and enthusiastic about life and their education no matter what hardships they face. They have also continuously served others through their roles as prefects and Mini Vinnies who lead fundraising activities. We are very proud of them!
