Black History Project

On Thursday 13th October and Friday 14th October, children from St. Joachim’s and St. Helen’s came together and took part in choral poetry performances to celebrate the culmination of our black history project. This year’s black history project has once again proven a resounding success, with children learning about the lives and achievements of inspirational black figures who made a positive impact through their actions. Over the duration of the two week project children across the school were treated to fantastic history lessons involving different levels of historical enquiry, from order the events of a person’s life in Nursery to using a range of primary and secondary resource’s to create timelines in Years 5 and 6. The project concluded with choral poetry performances across both schools. The poems were extremely well received as children and staff took full advantage of the opportunity to share learning, promote equality and diversity, and strengthen our academy partnership.
