Year 4's Shakespearean Walk
Today we had an exciting walk around London with two special characters called John and Olivier. They took us to some impressive landmarks related to Shakespeare and his works.
Our first stop was at Southwark Cathedral where Shakespeare’s brother, Edmund Shakespeare, is buried. Additionally, we were lucky to get to see the Shakespeare Window in the Cathedral which displays beautiful images depicting a variety of Shakespeare’s play including Macbeth and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
We went to the site of the old Globe theatre which sadly burnt to the ground in 1613 during a dramatic Richard III production when a prop (a canon) set fire to the inside of the theatre. Olivier and John told us lots of interesting stories about Shakespearean times throughout the walk and we ended up at the current Globe theatre site on Southbank.
