Year 6 Station of the Cross

This week children from Year 6 went on a pilgrimage around central London for The Stations of the Cross. Together they visited 10 different churches by foot, including the Ukrainian Cathedral and St Ethelreda’s the oldest Catholic church in England. We also had the opportunity to visit a first-class relic of Blessed Carlo Acutis, who will be canonized by Pope Francis later this month. Led by Mr Allen at each church the children read scripture and a prayer to contemplate on the different parts of Jesus’ journey to the cross the prayers helped the children to reflect on how Jesus' journey to the cross could impact on their own lives. The whole walk was just over 6 miles and the children showed a great level of resilience to complete it.

Years 2- 6 Stations of the cross
On the last day of term, the children from Years 2-6 attended a special Stations of the Cross Service at St Anne's church. It was led by Year 6 pupils. The object of the Stations is to help the us to make in spirit, a pilgrimage to the scenes of Christ's sufferings and death. The children showed a great level of reverence as they were reminded of Christ’s suffering for our sake. At each station the a special prayer is said
Leader: We adore you O Christ and we praise you,
All: Because by your holy Cross you have redeemed the world
